The yellow-against-green combination is a complementary colour relationship that fashion photography uses deliberately when it wants to generate visual heat without resorting to contrast. It works here because the dress’s sequin surface catches the studio light and returns it with a warmth that a matte fabric wouldn’t.

LOOK 1 — EMERALD GREEN SEQUIN

The emerald green long-sleeve sequin mini dress required the yellow backdrop specifically: on grey seamless, the cool green reads as formal. On yellow, it reads as editorial. The mandala tattoo on the upper chest, positioned above the neckline, adds a second layer of visual information that turns every portrait frame into something more complex than a straightforward fashion image.

The standing and seated sequences on the white wooden stool both worked: standing for the full-length silhouette, seated for the frames where the dress’s structure at the waist and the way the sequins catch the light from above become the subject.

LOOK 2 — COPPER SEQUIN

The copper sequin long-sleeve mini with rose gold platform heels closed the session with a warmer colour register that the yellow backdrop absorbed and returned differently than it had with the green. Where emerald against yellow creates visual tension, copper against yellow creates warmth — the two tones sitting in the same register rather than opposing each other.
